COVID-19 Announcements
July 24, 2020
Dear Brothers and Sisters of FLC,
Greetings on this beautiful Friday morning.
Some have asked if there will be any changes in worship or communion, in light of Governor Whitmer’s recent Executive Orders? To clarify and update, then, we offer the following quote from her Executive Order #2020-147, “Masks:”
“Nothing in this order shall be taken to abridge protections guaranteed by the state or federal constitution under these emergency circumstances, and no individual is subject to penalty under section 8 of this order for removing a mask while engaging in religious worship at a house of religious worship.”
Therefore, at the most recent meeting of the Board of Elders, this past Tuesday evening, it was agreed upon that worship & communion will continue as we have been doing for the past several weeks. That is to say:
1) Masks are recommended, but not required. Masks are not provided; please provide your own if you choose to wear one.
2) Sanitizer is available, and we encourage its use upon entry.
3) Pews will continue to be taped off, every other one, and rotated between services. We also ask that you practice social distancing between yourselves and those with whom you do not live.
4) Please limit yourselves while in the church to the Narthex, Sanctuary, bathrooms and hallways, and the Pastor Olson Room if attending Pastor’s Bible-Class between services.
5) Finally, if you are ill, at-risk, or simply do not feel safe or comfortable in returning to church at this time, we ask that you please stay home, and not feel guilty in doing so. Live stream is provided so you can worship in your home during this time.
Finally, please extend Grace to those around you who may choose different precautions than do you, and continue to treat one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, and within our FLC Family.
“…as God’s chosen people, holy and deeply loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
Colossians 3:12-14
In Christ,
Dennis Sergent, Chairperson, Board of Elders
